Fresh Start for a new Year

I honestly don't even know where to start in getting this blog going again...there are so many things to talk about...I have so many ideas chasing each other around in my head. I know I have been absent for quite a while due to Internet problems, but I am back for good now and I hope to resurrect this blog and reconnect with all the great people I have met out there!

Well, it's a whole new year since my last post...so why don't I start there. A new year, a fresh start.

What does 2010 mean to me?

2010 is the year I hope to finally be down to my goal weight and be physically fit and healthy.
  • I have already started working on this goal. I have been counting calories and working out for a little over 3 weeks now and I have lost 9 lbs so far. I'm not going to any extremes...I am doing this the healthy way. It's hard to be patient, but my focus is on long-term results and a different lifestyle for myself and my children. I hope to lose a total of 48 lbs by the end of the year. If you share my goal, I highly recommend The Biggest Loser
game for Wii. It has great work outs and keeps you motivated. I have also heard that Wii Fit Plus
    is great.

2010 is the year I hope to have a substantial savings account.

  • My sister has been reading a Dave Ramsey book and was telling me that he recommends "paying yourself." In other words, pay your tithes first, and then make your savings "payment" your next most important "bill." This was very interesting to me, as normally we have always considered savings to be something that you deposited into if you had any extra money left over from your budget...thus, the reason we have ZERO savings. Because the reality is, folks, that if you do it that way, you're never going to have a savings account. Well, unless you're a zillionaire...which I happen to NOT be. So, we are going to give this method a good try and see how it pans out. Also, if anyone out there has any Dave Ramsey books or materials that they are not going to use, feel free to pass them on to me! ;-)

2010 is the year I hope to get closer to God than I have ever been before.

  • I have been talking to God a lot about this and so far, I have felt led to make two main changes in my life. 1) Make a conscious effort to be in constant communication with Him. As if He were walking right beside me in the grocery store, or sitting beside me on the couch, or across from me at the table (which, hello...he is!). No, I'm not saying I am constantly verbal with Him. But I am making an effort to be more aware of His presence....feel His approval or lack thereof...see things through His eyes. And 2) reprogram my mind to put Him first, always. Every morning when I start to pour my bowl of cereal or turn on the tv or pick up a book or even clean up the toys from the night before...I make myself say, "Is this more important than my time with God?" And, of course, it never is, because nothing is.
There are many other hopes and wishes that I have for this year but these are my top 3. What about you? What are your goals for 2010?
